Born in 1937, Ciro Duran studied at the Bogota University. In 1963 and 1964, he worked as a stage director in Caracas, then became assistant director in several corpoductions with Spain, Mexico, Italy and France. He directed « La Paga » in Venezuela in 1965, an average length film, then from 1970, back in Colombia, he produced and directed advertisements. In 1975, he directed the short film « Corralejas » and in 1977 and 1978 his first long feature, « Gamin ».
