Fernando E. Solanas

Born in Argentina in 1936, Fernando Solanas studied music, theater and cinema. Since 1972, he directed and produced numerous and various films. In 1966, he founded with Octavio Getino and Gerardo Vallejo the group « Cine Liberacion » and directed his first long feature « La Hora de los Hornos ». With Getina, who co-wrote his first film, he published in 1971 « Towards a Third Cinema ». He began directing « Los Hijos de Fierro » in 1972, but culd only finish the film in 1977 in Europe after he was exiled from Argentina for political reasons in 1976.
